Hibs have completed the signing of Scotland Under-21 international Islam Feruz on loan from Chelsea.

The 19-year-old who joined the Stamford Bridge club from Celtic as a 16-year-old will now spend the remainder of the season at Easter Road.

After completing his move, Feruz told the Hibs website: “I am excited to be coming back to Scotland and get some first team football under my belt.

“Hibs have a good young team and I’ve played with a number of the boys before with the national team.

“The manager has shown faith me and I’m looking forward to repaying it by giving 100% when I’m selected.”

Last season Feruz spent unsuccessful loan spells at OFI Crete in Greece and Blackpool in the English Championship but Hibs head coach Alan Stubbs added: “I am delighted that we have managed to secure Islam on loan.

“He is another really exciting young talent, a player who has fantastic ability and potential. He will add a different dimension to the options that we currently have.

“We would like to thank Chelsea for allowing Islam to join us on loan, and we’re looking forward to helping him realise his undoubted potential.”

Feruz has been capped by Scotland at every level from Under-16 up to Under-21 and recently declared his ambition to one day play for the Scotland first team despite previous suggestions that he would rather play for the country of his birth, Somalia.
