With four matches to go, Scotland’s bid to qualify for Euro 2016 remains in our own hands after impressive performances in Germany, Poland and Ireland and three home victories.
However, it is now that we are in for the biggest four days of the campaign – the double header which will define our Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
On Friday we visit Georgia and on Monday we host world champions Germany.
Friday’s match against Georgia brings back memories of the last time we found ourselves in a promising position in a European Championships qualifying campaign – that time Germany, Poland and Ireland were replaced with France, Italy and Ukraine but it was the game in Tblisi, against a makeshift Georgia team where we came unstuck.
All the hard work of two victories over France was undone in 90 minutes in Tblisi as a young Georgia team ran out 2-0 winners against Alex McLeish’s Scotland.
Tartan Army footsoldiers across the country are currently frantically trying to convince each other that this trip to Tblisi will be different from that ill fated 2007 trip.
Fortunately one man who is taking a more calm and collected approach to the match is Gordon Strachan. This afternoon he revealed that he knows his starting 11 and will tell the players tonight.
Who would you pick? Robertson or Forsyth, Hanley or Mulgrew, Ritchie or Naismith and perhaps, the biggest of them all, Fletcher or Griffiths?
