POLL: Should Celtic sack Ronny Deila? Bookies have slashed the odds on him leaving Parkhead…

Ronny Deila has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has been installed as the Bookies favourite in the Premiership sack race following the Hoops’ loss to Motherwell on Saturday.

Saturday’s result at Parkhead sparked a number of rumours on social media that Deila would be sacked before the club’s next game, against Hearts, on December 27th.

Last night bookmakers McBookie cut the odds on Deila to be the next Premiership manager to be sacked from 3/1 to evens.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Motherwell was the Hoops’ first Premiership loss at Parkhead since St Johnstone escaped with a 1-0 win back in March.

But things have been far from rosy in Glasgow’s East End of late and pressure is undoubtedly mounting on Deila.

Just last month, at the club’s AGM, Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: “We tend to look after our people here at Celtic and we look after the managers in particular and give them time to progress.

“You can see the results in the league and the cups last year and the position we are in domestically this year. You can see there has been an improvement in our players.”

However, it’s now four games without a win at Celtic Park for the league leaders after they were also held to a goalless draw by Kilmarnock in between the Europa League slip-ups with Malmo and Ajax.

Draws with Fenerbahce, Kilmarnock and Hearts and defeats to Ajax, Molde and Motherwell mean Celtic have won just two of their last eight games at Celtic Park.

Celtic crashed out of Europe, finishing bottom of their Europa League group.

Aberdeen went on a disastrous run which saw them take just one point from a possible 15 yet they now sit just one point behind Celtic.

A number of Deila’s signings have flopped, struggling to even make it into his team.
