Darren Jackson left his coaching role at Dundee United when Jackie McNamara was sacked
Former Hibs, Celtic and Scotland attacker Darren Jackson has been declared bankrupt with debts of £270,000.
Jackson applied for his own bankruptcy after running up the debts, most of which were owed to the taxman relating to investments made in a film production scheme.
Jackson played for a number of clubs including Newcastle United, Dundee United, Hibs, Celtic, Hearts and St Johnstone and earned 28 Scotland caps before retiring in 2002.
After retiring, Jackson became a football agent before joining Dundee United as a coach in Dundee United.
Jackson left United in September when Jackie McNamara was sacked and has since been working as a football pundit.
In 1997, while playing for Celtic, Jackson was diagnosed with hydrocephalus – a condition, in which a build-up of fluid inside the cranial cavity can lead to brain damage and even death.
The attacker underwent major surgery but returned to action just three months later and went on to play for Scotland at the 1998 World Cup.
