Ross McConnachie has returned to Peterculter Golf Club after being named head professional.

The former assistant pro worked under Dean Vannet at Peterculter until March last year when he left the club to work with PGA in Scotland captain Stuart Syme at Drumoig Golf Centre.

McConnachie fills the post vacated by Vannet’s recent move to Banchory Golf Club as head professional.

He said: “It was a very busy but enjoyable eight months re-establishing Drumoig Golf Centre.

“I have learned a lot in my time there and I am sad to leave but the opportunity at Peterculter is a huge career step for me and I look forward to a long and successful reign at the club.

“It will be hard to follow in the footsteps of my old boss Dean, who has done a tremendous job of getting the club to where it is at today during his impressive 23 years at the club but I am very much looking forward to the challenge.”

Banff-born McConnachie spent his formative golf years playing on the links courses of Moray Golf Club at Lossiemouth.

He gained a sports management degree at Aber-deen University and after three years working abroad, he started his PGA career as an assistant pro at Peterculter in July 2011 and completed his PGA training in 2015.
