Sweden’s Alex Noren has a two-shot lead going into the final round of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links.

The 33-year-old is chasing his fifth European Tour victory and has established control at the top of the leaderboard after rounds of 70, 66 and 68 for a 12 under par total.

His nearest challengers are Englishman Tyrrell Hatton and Italy’s Matteo Manassero, who are both sitting on 10 under par.

New Zealander Danny Lee (-9), Graeme McDowell and Andy Sullivan (both -8) are also well placed going into the final day.

Aberdeen’s Richie Ramsay the best placed Scots after three rounds. The 33-year-old is tied ninth on six under as he bids to become the first Scot since Colin Montgomerie in 1999 to win the Scottish Open.

But it is Sweden’s Noren who is in the driving seat, although the Stockholm golfer knows anything can happen on a Sunday afternoon.

He said: “I’ve learned that when you lead, it’s not certain that you’re going to win.

“Even the guys on six or seven under could shoot a brilliant final round.

“I’m just going to focus on putting in a good round and taking it one shot at a time.”

Noren tees off for his final round alongside Hatton at 3.10pm.
