Former Aberdeen Grammar and Ellon coaches Alex Duncan and Kevin Wyness are reuniting as coaches of Aberdeenshire.

The duo replace former coach Eric Strachan who stood down due to family commitments and will head up a new-look coaching team which includes Chris Allan, Stevie Park and a student of Rod Aspe, Fraser Murray, who will join as strength and conditioning coach.

Duncan said: “I am delighted to have been asked by Aberdeenshire to form a new coaching team with Kevin and to be part of an exciting era in the development of their club. After having been suitably refreshed after a years coaching sabbatical I feel I can play a part in developing the clubs vision for the future.

“Having gained such an invaluable coaching experience from my recent MacPhail scholarship to the Canterbury Crusaders I am keen that rugby in the north-east benefits from what is undoubtedly the best rugby environment in the world and that in turn Aberdeen rugby, through Aberdeenshire, benefits.”

Wyness added: “I’m delighted to be working with Alex again and am both honoured and impressed that Aberdeenshire have chosen to ask us to form a new coaching team with Stevie, Chris and Fraser.

“Having coached in the Premiership for the last couple of seasons and having also been part of the recent Caledonia Reds matches, I’m looking forward to helping Aberdeenshire achieve their full potential.”
