It has long been suggested that Peterhead forward Rory McAllister could play at a higher level and last night we saw exactly why, as he hit five goals to knock Championship side Falkirk out of the Petrofac Training Cup.
The Blue Toon ran out 5-3 winners against last season’s Scottish Cup finalists at the Falkirk Stadium and McAllister was the undoubted star man, netting all five goals for the League One side.
It had looked ominous for the Blue Toon when, after goalkeeper Graeme Smith had saved a penalty, David Smith and Paul Watson sent the hosts two ahead after 20 minutes.
But Peterhead quickly drew level with two goals in the space of five minutes from Rory McAllister before the forward completed his treble two minutes before the break.
Falkirk substitute Alex Cooper restored parity after 76 minutes before McAllister volleyed home a sensational winner with nine minutes remaining and then converted a late penalty to cap off an incredible individual display.
