Only a top-two finish will do for Sweden’s Peter Hedblom if he is to retain his European Tour card for next season, and the 43-year-old got off to a cracking start by taking a share of the lead on the first day of the Perth International.
Hedblom is ranked 179th in the Race to Dubai standings and faces an 11th trip to the European Tour qualifying school if he fails to break into the top 110 at the end of the week. He fired a four-under-par 68 to tie for the lead with South Korea’s Jin Jeong and Australians James Nitties and Clint Rice at Lake Karrinyup.
Last chance Hedlom keeps his tour card hopes intact
