Forres Mechanics: Good luck Brora and Mark Bowden

Firstly, I have to pass on my congratulations to Brora Rangers on being able to retain their SHFL crown as champions for 2014-15, and wish them all the best of luck in the play-off game against Edinburgh City, it would be great to possibly have another team from the north plying their trade in the SPFL.

Forres, in their penultimate home game of this season, welcomed Deveronvale to an extremely windy Mosset Park on Saturday which thankfully had passed an early morning pitch inspection due to those high winds.

This was the fifth time we have completed the “ DOUBLE” over teams this season as we won 2-1, thanks to two headed goals from Stuart Soane and Lee Fraser, despite losing an away goal we held on but it could have been a much larger scoreline if it wasn’t for the great saves made from both goalkeepers.

Although he didn’t get to play today, our reserve goalkeeper Mark Bowden was included in the team selection for the last time. He is moving down south shortly for family reasons and although he didn’t get to play many games, he was a valuable and important member of the squad and will always be remembered for his outstanding displays, when called upon, especially during our N.O.S.Cup. run including our victory against a strong Nairn County side on penalties when he single handedly kept us in the game with some amazing saves.

I’m sure all of us Can-Cans fans will wish him all the best in his future endeavours and thanks for the memories.

Our last home game of the season is on Wednesday night when we entertain Inverurie Locos and will be hoping for a better score-line than the last time we met when we were thrashed 4-1. I’m sure there will be another large home fans turnout to thank the players for their efforts this season.
