What: Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF) annual fundraising dinner, hosted by the Friends of AIYF.
Where: Beach Ballroom, Aberdeen.
Who: A number of key sponsors of AIYF attended the event, including BP, the University of Aberdeen and representatives from Aberdeen City Council including Councillor Jim Kiddie and Lord Provost George Adam. The Friends of the festival were also in attendance, many of whom have had a longstanding association with AIYF.
Why: The dinner is held each year to raise much-needed funding for young performers travelling to the festival, both locally and internationally. Last year the dinner was able to support young performers from Azerbaijan, and this year it is hoped the money raised will support a dance group from Jordan.
The evening was compered by Judith Ralston (BBC Reporting Scotland weather reporter), and the guest speaker was Richard Holloway, chairman of Sistema Scotland.
A raffle and auction hosted by Kenny Luke also formed part of the evening’s proceedings, raising a total of £7,500 on the night.
