Lady Bird leaves Oscars empty-handed

It was a disappointing night for Greta Gerwig’s solo directorial debut Lady Bird at the Oscars, as the film failed to win a single trophy.

The film had been nominated for five prizes, including best picture, but was left empty-handed.

Gerwig, who had been nominated in both the directing and original screenplay categories, lost out to Guillermo del Toro for The Shape Of Water and Jordan Peele for Get Out respectively.
