Buckingham Palace guards have been filmed performing Bohemian Rhapsody, just hours after the film of the same name scooped two top awards.

The band of the Grenadier Guards performed Queen’s hit in front of Buckingham Palace just after 12pm on Monday.

The 1975 hit is the third bestselling single in UK history.

The performance came less than 24 hours after Bohemian Rhapsody won two Golden Globe Awards, prompting some to speculate it was a tribute to the film.

The box office hit, starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, was awarded the gongs for Best Actor – Drama, and Best Motion Picture – Drama at the Hollywood ceremony on Sunday evening.

The film charts the life of Queen lead singer, Freddie Mercury, from his teenage years to the band’s renowned performance at Live Aid in 1985.

The MoD and the British Army were not immediately able to say if the performance was a tribute to the film’s success.
