Phoebe Waller-Bridge has said that working on the new James Bond film was “the most incredible experience”.
The Fleabag creator, who worked on the script for the 25th Bond film No Time To Die, has also joked that she wants to tell fans the ending of the highly guarded storyline.
Asked what she could share about the film, Waller-Bridge told BBC Radio 1’s Greg James: “What can I say? Oh my God, I literally can’t say anything.
“I’ve been off it for a while. It was just the most incredible experience, being on those sets and with that cast.
“It’s just a whole other level of storytelling.”
She joked that she would have to “walk around this mysterious Bond bush” by way of tactical diversion to avoid discussing it further.
Waller-Bridge added that when fans approach her to talk about the film, she is tempted to tell them: “I’ll tell you the ending, but that’s all I’m going to tell you.”
Known for creating emotionally complex women with razor sharp wit in her work, including in TV drama series Killing Eve, Waller-Bridge was drafted in to help with the Bond script after being suggested to producers by 007 actor Daniel Craig.
The actress, writer and producer, 34, said that winning a string of Emmys this year for hit comedy series Fleabag was “mental”.
However, despite its success she said that it was time for the much-loved programme – about a confused and witty young woman struggling to navigate life in London – to finish.
“It did feel like it had to come to its natural end, Fleabag,” she said.
“I think there was an intensity to that character that just needed… she just needed to chill out a bit at the end.”
The show has just received three Golden Globe nominations – leading actress for Waller-Bridge, supporting actor for her co-star Andrew Scott, who played the “hot priest” in the second series, and best television series (musical or comedy).
