Kevin Spacey has appealed for “kindness” in a cryptic new video message as Frank Underwood, his character in House Of Cards.

The actor, 60, who has faced multiple accusations of sexual misconduct, shared the minute-long video to his YouTube account on Christmas Eve.

It comes a year after he posted a similar video in character as the Machiavellian US president, after allegations of sexual assault derailed his career.

The video, titled KTWK, appeared to be a plea for kindness towards the actor.

In it Spacey wears a Christmas jumper and tends to a fire before saying in the southern American accent of his character: “You didn’t really think I was going to miss the opportunity to wish you a merry Christmas, did you?

“It’s been a pretty good year, and I’m grateful to have my health back.

“And in light of that, I’ve made some changes in my life and I’d like to invite you to join me.

“As we walk into 2020, I want to cast my vote for more good in this world.

“Ah yes, I know what you’re thinking. Can he be serious? I’m dead serious. And it’s not that hard, trust me.

“The next time someone does something you don’t like, you can go on the attack. But you can also hold your fire and do the unexpected. You can kill them with kindness.”

Spacey, a two-time Oscar-winner, was a major Hollywood star before he was accused of inappropriate behaviour in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal in October 2017.

Earlier this year prosecutors in the US dropped a case accusing the actor of groping a teenager at a bar in 2016, which he denied.

Spacey was artistic director at London’s The Old Vic theatre between 2004 and 2015.

The theatre later found 20 people claimed they had been subjected to inappropriate behaviour from the actor.

The star was sacked from Netflix show House Of Cards and Sir Ridley Scott erased him from his completed film All The Money In The World, recasting Christopher Plummer in the role with re-shoots costing millions.
