The Voice judges slammed after backing singer to the stars misses out

Emma Bunton’s best friend and backing singer to the stars, Wendi Harriot, was left disappointed on Saturday night as she missed out in a spot on The Voice.

The 41-year-old, who has supported the likes of The Killers, Rod Stewart and even The Voice coach Jennifer Hudson, performed Aretha Franklin’s version of Rolling Stones’ Satisfaction.

At the late stage of the blind auditions, the coaches have only a limited number of slots left in their teams and opted not to turn for Harriot, although Hudson urged her to return next year.

Harriot, whose husband is in the R&B band Damage alongside Bunton’s husband, was comforted by her seven-year-old daughter, Heaven, after failing to qualify.

The coaches decision astonished viewers on social media following Harriot’s emotional performance.

@Strictlyjulieb wrote on Twitter: “Shame on you judges. Wendy you were amazing.”

@Je55icaRuth posted: “Massively WRONG decision the judges not turning for Wendy on @thevoiceuk not only did she have an amazing voice but her stage presence was awesome too. I’m gutted for her.”

@Superpidge tweeted: “Gutted for Wendy Harriott, a beautiful voice, she’s a legend like her husband is, love genuine talent but hate seeing them going home without anyone turning.”

@Sallyrees72 posted: “gutted for Wendy harriot I thought at least one of you would turn.”

@xxAlicia89 tweeted: “Can’t believe no one turned for Wendi, she’s been the best so far.”
