Brit nominees enjoy chart boost ahead of awards ceremony

Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran are among the Brit Award nominees who are scaling the charts this week ahead of the annual music awards ceremony on Wednesday.

Singer-songwriter Lipa, who is leading the pack with five nominations, has jumped seven places on the albums chart to number four with her self-titled debut at the halfway stage of the charts week, the Official Charts Company has said.

If it ends the week in fourth place, it will beat the album’s previous chart high of number five.

Lipa’s LP is up for British album of the year along with Sheeran’s Divide, Rag’n’Bone Man’s Human, Stormzy’s Gang Signs & Prayer and Common Sense by J Hus.

Previous chart-topper Divide is in line to end this week at number two on the albums chart, having retained its position from last week.

Human is currently at number nine after climbing three places, while grime artist Stormzy has also seen a boost this week, jumping five places to 36.

Taylor Swift, who is up for the international female solo artist prize, has seen her album Reputation rebound nine spots to number 11.

International male nominee Kendrick Lamar has risen eight places to 13 with Damn, and British male hopeful Liam Gallagher’s As You Were is at 16 from 24 last week.

A Deeper Cut by British blues rockers The Temperance Movement is the highest new entry this week at number three and Camila Cabello rounds off the top five with her debut album Camila.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, Canadian rapper Drake looks set to be unmoved from the top spot with God’s Plan.

He has a lead of 2,000 combined sales and streams at the mid-week stage, although Rudimental track These Days is hot on its heels at number two.

US psychedelic rock band Portugal. The Man are continuing their ascent with their sleeper hit Feel It Still rising three places to number three, ahead of IDGAF by Lipa in fourth place and Keala Settle’s This Is Me from The Greatest Showman soundtrack at number five.
