Little Big Town pay tribute to Glenn Campbell

Little Big Town paid an emotional tribute to the late country singer Glen Campbell during their headline show at London’s O2 Arena.

The US band gathered around a piano on a small stage in the middle of the crowd to perform Campbell’s song Wichita Lineman.

Member Jimi Westbrook told the crowd “We lost some heroes this year” as he introduced the song, which they also performed at the Country Music Awards.

Rhinestone Cowboy singer Campbell died last year at the age of 81 after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

The four-piece opened their show on the final night of the Country To Country festival with a cover of Elton John’s Rocket Man.

They also performed their biggest hits including Pontoon, Day Drinking and Vince Gill’s Take Me Down.

The group also treated the crowd to an acoustic version of Sober after Kimberly Schlapman said: “You know what we need in this world is a little bit more love.

“We should sing this for our friend Deborah, who went to be with the angels yesterday.

“She was so important to our band. We love you and miss you and what we will do down here is love each other a little bit better.”

They also performed Better Man, written for them by Taylor Swift, Tornado and I’m With The Band, which they sang in front of a montage of old home videos from their 20 years as a group.

They brought the crowd to their feet for a raucous finale of hits Girl Crush and Boondocks.

Little Big Town headlined the final night of the London festival, after shows in Glasgow and Dublin.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and Kasey Musgraves also headlined the three-day country music event.
