US rapper Kanye West has confirmed he will release his new album Yandhi on Saturday and previewed a snippet of one of its tracks.
West made the announcement on his official Twitter profile after previously sharing a video of himself working on previously unheard music in a studio.
The title of the album appears to be an amalgamation of the rapper’s nickname and title of his previous album Ye, with the name of Indian activist and spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi.
In a tweet, the husband of reality star Kim Kardashian West referenced the upcoming release of fellow rapper and former collaborator Lil Wayne’s latest album Tha Carter V.
West wrote: “We’re releasing Yandhi Saturday night. We know it will come in number two to my brother Lil Wayne and that’s lovely.
“The universe needs Ye and Wayne music at the same time.”

The release on the weekend is set to coincide with West’s appearance as the musical guest on the season premiere of long-running US comedy show Saturday Night Live.
Following his first tweet, West later shared a short video which was soundtracked by a more complete version of a song he previously previewed earlier in September.
The video also suggests that Yandhi is a follow-up record to West’s 2013 album Yeezus. It sees an animation of blank CD case assemble, which also appeared on the cover artwork of Yeezus.

The song in the video featured West’s falsetto vocals and the producer’s customary use of the auto-tune vocal effect.
