Paloma Faith has joked that she needed “alone time” after watching Andrew Scott’s sex scene in the hit comedy-drama Fleabag.
The singer, 37, thanked the Irish actor on behalf of “anybody that’s got kids (or) has been in a long-term relationship” as she appeared alongside him on The Graham Norton Show.
Scott, 42, was dubbed “the hot priest” for his starring role opposite Phoebe Waller-Bridge in the BBC Three programme, which ended earlier this year.
Faith said she had a “moment” during the fifth episode of the second series, when Scott’s priest and Fleabag sleep together.
She said: “I’m not shy of an awkward situation and confessed to Andrew when I first met him that I had a bit of alone time with episode five. I had my moment and was very happy.
“On behalf of anybody that’s got kids (or) has been in a long-term relationship, thank-you from the deepest bottom of my heart.”
London-born Faith welcomed her first child in December 2016 with French artist Leyman Lahcine but the pair have decided not to reveal the gender.
She is currently starring as the villainous Bet Sykes in Pennywise, a new series that will follow Batman protagonist Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth.
Faith said she could understand why Sykes felt misunderstood.
“I’ve spent six months playing my character,” she said.
“She’s a baddie, but I feel a great sense of empathy for her. I love her and can’t tell the difference between me and her.
“She thinks she’s doing the right thing at all times for the greater good and she can’t understand why everyone looks like her oddly and I sometimes feel like that in my everyday life. In my little weird world, I think I am absolutely normal.
“She’s a bit misunderstood and I very much love her, although everyone else on set, including all the crew, were absolutely terrified of me.
“Everyone was like, ‘You’re too good at this, it’s scary, where is it coming from?’”
