Love Island’s Amy tells Curtis: I’m leaving because I want you to be happy

Amy Hart has said she chose to quit Love Island because she loves her former partner Curtis Pritchard and wants him to be happy.

Amy, who was in a relationship with ballroom dancer Curtis from the start of the reality series, walked out of the show in Tuesday’s episode, days after they called time on their relationship.

Curtis recently confessed to having his “head turned” by another girl, Jourdan Raine, in the main villa while Amy was away at alternative villa Casa Amor, which she said broke her heart.

They agreed to end things, and Amy then watched as fellow islander Maura Higgins made her move on newly-single Curtis.

In the latest instalment of the ITV2 show, Amy told Curtis of her decision to leave.

She said: “I came in here and I thought I was going to meet some nice people and I’d probably date one of them and they’d be alright, and then I met you and you completely turned my whole world around…

“We made each other happy… I want us to be best, best friends but we both need to move on and we both need to find someone that is going to make us as happy as we make them.

“Realistically for me, I’m not going to be ready in the next three weeks to meet someone else. Realistically for you, you will not be happy all the time here because you’ll always put me first, because you’re such a good person.

“That’s why I love you so much and that’s why I want you to be happy.

“You are not going to be happy whilst I’m still here.”

Amy said her departure is a “positive thing, because I’m going to go and start the rest of my life today”.

“I’m going to let you go and you pursue whoever it is you want to pursue and hope that you find whatever you are looking for,” she said, adding that they will have the “best friendship” in the future.

Amy, who had never been in a relationship before, said in the Beach Hut: “I have been on such a huge journey… I did not imagine that first night I would meet this boy that would change my life and change my mindset.

“I want him to be happy and I want him to meet someone else so I’m leaving here today not holding any grudges against anyone, not against Curtis, not against Maura, no one.

“I never thought I would fall in love, I never thought someone would make me feel so special that I would fall in love with them and I did and it makes me realise that that will happen for me again, just not in here.”

Tuesday’s programme also saw Lucie Donlan and George Rains booted from the villa.

They followed Danny Williams and Jourdan, who left in Monday’s episode.

The episode also saw Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague say they love one another.

The pair, who are the favourite couple to win outright, exchanged words in bed and Tommy later took to the beach hut to discuss the news.

“I don’t care who knows it. I will shout it from the rooftops. It’s a nice feeling,” he said.

Later, he told the boys in the garden: “The big ‘L’ has been dropped. It’s a comforting feeling knowing that someone has the same feeling as you. Whenever I see her, I get nervous.”

Two new islanders, Francesca Allen and Chris Taylor, also arrived to shake things up in the villa.

Love Island continues on ITV2.
