Love Island’s Amy Hart ‘absolutely gutted’ by Anna Vakili’s relationship woes

Amy Hart has said it is “really gutting” not being able to help fellow Love Island contestant Anna Vakili deal with the break-up of her relationship.

The former air hostess said Anna had helped her through some of her darkest times and that she had hoped to do the same for her.

Monday’s episode of the ITV2 series saw Anna berate boyfriend Jordan Hames after he appeared to begin pursuing another woman.

Despite having asked Anna to be his girlfriend only days before, he admitted to fellow islander Curtis Pritchard that he had feelings for India Reynolds, before pulling her aside for a chat.

During an appearance on ITV’s Loose Women on Wednesday, Hart said: “Well obviously I am absolutely gutted watching that.

“I haven’t watched (the full episode) yet.

“Anna helped me through some of my darkest times so the fact that I am not there to help her is really gutting for me.

“I said in my list to Curtis, ‘just because you fancy someone, just because you feel attracted, it doesn’t mean you have to act on it’. If I’d come back from Casa Amor and he’d said: ‘Oh, I did fancy them but it’s you that I want…’

“And he was like: ‘I had a connection so I had to talk to them about it’. You don’t have to do anything.

“But just fancying someone is fine. It’s natural to fancy someone.”

The 27-year-old quit the show after Curtis told her he no longer saw a future with her and began pursuing a relationship with Irish grid girl Maura Higgins.

Before he left she read him a list which described how his actions had made her feel.

During her hour-long stint as a guest panellist on Loose Women, she also revealed her grandparents were now fans of the show.

She said: “Before I went in, my nan and grandad didn’t know about Love Island. They had just read what they read about Love Island.

“So when I told them I was going on they were not best pleased. So I went away thinking: ‘Oh God, my nan and grandad are going to hate me when I get home’.

“But then once Love Island had been announced and my VT (video tape) had been released they understood what it was about and that I was literally going in there to meet someone.

“They managed to get a message to me in lockdown saying they were really happy and really proud. Now my 73-year-old nan and grandad are huge fans of Love Island.”

Love Island, hosted by Caroline Flack, continues on ITV2.
