A collision with a car has left a teenage cyclist in critical condition.
The incident took place on Motherwell Road in Hamilton at 10.40pm on Saturday.
The 17-year-old male, who was riding a black mountain bike, was struck by a green Fiat 500 which then stopped.
He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as critical.
Police are looking to establish the circumstances of the collision.
Sergeant Craig McDonald said: “We’re appealing to anyone who might’ve witnessed this incident or noticed the cyclist or green Fiat 500 shortly before the incident happened.
“I’d also ask drivers who were in that area around 10.40pm on Saturday to check their dashcam footage.”
Witnesses are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting the incident number 4491 of September 26.
