Rachid Bouhenna and Paul McMullan scored in the first half as Dundee United defeated Falkirk 2-0 to leave the Ladbrokes Championship’s bottom side on the verge of relegation.
The hosts went ahead after 15 minutes when Bouhenna powered in a header.
McMullan extended United’s lead after 26 minutes after he was fed by a cross from Pavol Safranko.
Falkirk’s best chance of a reply in the first half came after 32 minutes but Davis Keillor-Dunn’s shot was saved before Jordan McGhee’s header came back off the post for the visitors.
Keillor-Dunn was denied early in the second half by home goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist as Falkirk were well beaten by their second-placed opponents.
The Bairns are three points adrift of safety with one match remaining.
