Grimsby will be missing vice-captain Luke Hendrie for Saturday’s visit of Cheltenham, who are second in Sky Bet League Two.
The full-back has suffered a hamstring strain and is expected to miss the next few weeks with the injury.
It is a blow for Mariners manager Michael Jolley, but he should have Harry Clifton and James Hanson fit despite the duo carrying slight knocks.
A decision will be made on Sunderland loanee Ethan Robson after he missed Grimsby’s last two fixtures, though Max Wright remains absent with a thigh injury.
Reuben Reid is closing in on a return for Cheltenham, but needs to build up his match fitness first and so could miss the trip to Blundell Park.
The former Exeter forward is yet to make his debut for the Robins, following a summer move, after requiring minor knee operation in July.
But Reid is back in training again and will hope to be part of Michael Duff’s squad soon, although knows it will be tough to get into the starting XI with Cheltenham unbeaten in the league since August 31.
On-loan Hull City midfielder Max Sheaf is still out with a hamstring injury along with Josh Debayo and Tahvon Campbell.
