Aberdeen defender Shay Logan insists he and his team-mates have displayed the character needed to compete for the Scottish Premiership title.

The Dons recovered from the loss of the first goal and the dismissal of captain Mark Reynolds to beat Ross County 3-2 at Victoria Park yesterday in a thrilling encounter in the Highlands, with Logan netting twice.

The win takes Aberdeen back to within three points of leaders Celtic at the top of the table and Logan believes his side’s display has silenced those who doubt the Dons’ credentials.

He said: “When people look from the outside they don’t know what’s going on here but we have great character at this club and the manager and Tony Docherty keep us grounded. We train hard for games coming up and do everything we need to do to win games. We know how well we can play and how to produce performances like we did here.

“We’re nine games unbeaten in the league and as much as the cup defeat hurts from last week there is nothing we can do about it now and we have to focus on our campaign in the league.

“We’ve gone to Dingwall and taken the three points and now we’re looking to do the same when we play Dundee on Friday.”

Logan was delighted by his side’s resolve after losing a goal direct from the free kick which Reynolds conceded for his foul on County’s Alex Schalk – which led to his red card in the 26th minute.

The full back also hailed the display of goalkeeper Scott Brown in his first start of the campaign and midfielder Craig Storie, who made his first start for the club.

Logan added: “We were under the cosh with a man sent off after starting the game really well and when they scored with the free kick our heads could have gone down. But we came back with a great performance and scored three goals.

“From Scott Brown in goal to everyone in front of him, it was a great effort.

“He hasn’t played a game in a long time but he was excellent and he could have been man of the match. Craig Storie, too, at 20, didn’t look out of place and the players showed the depth of squad the manager has here.”
