Ferries boss has eye on Western and Northern Isles

The boss of Caledonian Macbrayne believes his firm is set to retain the lifeline ferry service to the Western Isles when its operator is unveiled in the Spring and has pledged to “win back” services to Orkney and Shetland it lost in 2012.

Ferries in the north still face disruption amid bad weather. Northlink has advised that all of its services are subject to delays and that passengers should check their journey before setting off. CalMac has advised that the Oban-Castlebay and Oban-Lochboisdale services are on amber alert.
