What the papers say Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho is considering making a Premier League return with Chelsea, the Daily Express reports. The Brazilian, who previously played for Liverpool, has struggled to make an impact since departing for LaLiga. Manchester United and Paris St Germain are possible destinations for the 27-year-old, but Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles is quoted as saying the player’s “preference would be to go to Chelsea”.

What the papers say The seemingly very near departure of Maurizio Sarri from Chelsea has left Derby County steeling themselves for an approach for manager Frank Lampard, The Sun reports. According to the paper, two-time Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has told friends he would like a third term at Stamford Bridge, while RB Leipzig coach Ralf Rangnick has also been tipped as a successor. But former Blues star Lampard is the bookies’ favourite to take the reins at his old club. Chelsea are understood to have agreed on a compensation deal worth in excess of £5million for their Italian boss to join Juventus after just one season at Stamford Bridge.

What the papers say If he can lift the Champions League trophy next season, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is considering a sabbatical, the Daily Star reports. The Spaniard has signed a contract which will keep him at the Etihad until 2021, but the paper quotes an unnamed source saying the stresses of the job mean it is “inevitable he will have to take a step back”. City will reportedly target Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino if Guardiola goes.

What the papers say After winning the domestic treble, Manchester City appear ready to hand boss Pep Guardiola a bumper deal to keep him at the club for at least the next five years. According to the Sun, the 48-year-old – who still has two years remaining on his current contract – could see his annual salary rise from £15million to £20million.
