Scottish breeders were out in force at the Red Ladies Derby show and sale of Limousins at Carlisle.

Leading the charge taking both the overall champion rosettes and the top price of the day was an entry from the Graham dairying family, from Airthrey Kerse at Bridge of Allan.

Selling to a top of 32,000gn and setting a record for the highest priced maiden heifer sold in 2016, was May-2015 born Grahams Lilly – an embryo daughter of Claragh Franco and out of Grahams Coffee.

She is a full sister to Grahams Lorenzo, which sold for 40,000gn earlier this year, and her buyer was the Richardson family who run the Mystyle herd at Ghyll House, Dufton, Cumbria.

The Graham family also achieved the third best price of the day – 10,000gn – when another of their maiden heifers went through the ring.

May-2015 born Grahams Lobelia – an embryo transfer daughter of Claragh Franco and out of Cavaliere – sold to Iain Graham, Rose Castle Farm, Dalston, Carlisle.

Meanwhile, the reserve overall champion, as placed by pre-sale show judge Harriet Wilson of Whitecross Farm, Stafford, sold for 9,100gn to north-east breeder Aileen Ritchie who runs the Ritchies herd at Tamara, Burnside, Whitecairns, Aberdeen.

Other leading prices for Scots breeders included 8,500gn for an entry from Neil and Stuart Barclay’s Harestone herd at Insch.

August-2015 Harestone Ladylike is an embryo transfer daughter of Millgate Fame out of Glenrock Impulse. She sold to Paul Cairns of Plumtree Limousins in Nottingham.
