Parents at an Aberdeen school have slammed inconsiderate drivers and called for further enforcement action over the number of cars parking inappropriately during collection and pick-up time.
Concerned mums and dads of pupils at Gilcomstoun Primary School in Aberdeen have urged the council to step up parking patrols to stop people ignoring the rules and creating dangerous road situations for children.
In addition to parking on zig-zags, parents have reported drivers for leaving their vehicles on double yellow lines and halfway across pavements.

One Gilcomstoun mum, Jennifer Kelly, said there has been little done to address the problem so far and that pupil safety is being put at risk.
She said: “This is something that has been brought up with the school a number of times and something which has been reported to the wardens time and again, but it’s just not enough to send wardens to the school during peak times.
“It’s getting to the stage that we are starting to wonder if it’s going to take a child being injured due to these drivers before anything serious is done.
“I appreciate that the council can claim budget cuts or lack of staff/resources prevent them tackling this, but ultimately enough is enough when it comes to these drivers.
“If parents think it’s appropriate to park in these areas to collect their children and put others at risk, then they deserve on-the-spot fines.”
A spokeswoman for Aberdeen City Council said: “We are committed to working with schools, parents and other partners to reduce the issue of motorists parking dangerously at drop-off and pick-up times.
“City wardens periodically patrol near schools and this reduces the incidences of bad parking, however the problem parking frequently reappears when they leave the area.
“Pupils are encouraged to walk, cycle or get a bus to school where possible.
“Parent drivers across the city should adhere to the highway code for zig-zags outside a school, which states that they must not wait or park, or stop to set down and pick up passengers on school entrance markings.”
