A search has resumed for a 75-year-old man who was reported missing from the Portree area yesterday.

Police are growing increasingly concerned for Jim Tough who was last seen walking with his dog in the Skye town on Thursday morning.

Mr Tough was visiting Skye on a family holiday went he was reported missing.

He is known to suffer from dementia and police are concerned that he may try to make his way back to his home address in Cumbernauld.

A search involving two coastguard rescue teams from Portree and Dunvegan, as well police search dogs has resumed this morning.

The Stornonway Coastguard helicopter is also being used to search the area.

The search was called off last night at dark and resumed early this morning, centred around the Portree area.

Mr Tough is described as 5ft 10in tall, medium build with dark hair but bald on top.

He was wearing a cream jacket, dark trousers and black shoes when last seen, and he speaks with a Glaswegian accent.

It is believed that Mr Tough was walking with his young black labrador/collie cross dog.
