Negatives crammed into an old biscuit tin on sale at a collector’s fair have now been turned into a book.
Archie Foley from Joppa in Edinburgh found hundreds of old negatives crammed into a biscuit tin at a collector’s fair.
He has now made a book using the images with a railway theme.
The seller was only interested in flogging the ornamental tin but retired history teacher Archie Foley, 79, was intrigued by the negatives and snapped them up for less than a tenner.
He then developed hundreds of black and white negatives of photographs which captured scenes of Edinburgh’s history and family life through the 1950s and 60s.
Many of the pictures focus on the rail industry at a time when steam was making way for diesel, while others show general views of the city and human portraits.
