A north-east lifeboat crew had to escort a pair of jet skiers back to the shore after one of the engines broke down.
The Fraserburgh lifeboat was called out at 4pm after one of the motors suffered a mechanical failure.
The jet skiers managed to tow the broken machine back but they were supervised by the crew on board the RNLI vessel.
Fraserburgh coxswain Vic Sutherland said they were on standby to ensure the men got back to the shoreline.
He said: “We just escorted them across the bay to Cairnbulg harbour to make sure they got in safe and well.
“The last I heard they were waiting for the tide to come in so they can get their jet skis on the trailers.
“The lads did the right thing in contacting the Coastguard. It was very good of the other guys to help out.
“It saved us having to go into shallow water with the lifeboat and having the other jet ski there made our job easier.”
A coastguard spokesman said: “It was someone on a jet ski at Inverallochy.
“The jet ski had broken down so the lifeboat went out to get the person and bring them back in.
“There were two people out on jet skis and the other person towed the machine back.
“The lifeboat stood by and made sure they were okay coming back in.”
