A Mearns group has installed its second piece of life-saving kit at a local primary school.

Fordoun Defibrillator Group (FDG) has put the equipment at Redmyre Primary School, and has already given children and staff training in how to use it and do CPR.

The defibrillator was bought through various donations, and the support of head teacher Judith Gronneberg.

Wayne Evans, of FDG, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Auquhirie Wind Farm Community Fund, along with Kincardineshire Development Partnership who administrate the fund, for funding the majority of this defibrillator.

“We would also like to thank Mrs Gronneberg for donating the remaining amount needed from the September sponsored school walk proceeds and Aberdeenshire Council who have cooperated at every level of discussion and planning of this project.”

FDG still has enough money to install another defibrillator and is looking for suitable spot in the outyling parts of the village.

Mr Evans added: “This will provide coverage and reassurance to residents that a defibrillator can be accessed more quickly during a cardiac emergency.

“We are also looking forward to announcing another defibrillator and CPR training session soon and urge all residents, young and old, to come along and refresh these lifesaving skills.”
