Thousands of comfort boxes filled with food, drink and toiletries have been delivered to hard-working NHS Grampian staff since March thanks to a charity campaign.

The NHS Grampian Endowment Fund, which works for the benefits of patients of the health board through helping to purchase medical equipment, research disease and more, has donated the boxes to every NHS ward, team, department and care home across the Grampian region.

The boxes also feature artwork from children and young people, collected by the Grampian Hospitals Art Trust (Ghat) through its “Rainbow project”.

Tony Douglas, general manager of Rubislaw Park Care Home in Aberdeen, said: “All of us at Rubislaw Park Care Home would like to express a huge heart-felt thanks to NHS Grampian Endowment Fund and Ghat’s Rainbow Project for the delivery of the comfort boxes.

“These are challenging tmies and we continue to feel very much part of the team working together tremendously hard throughout the crisis.”

Ghat director Sally Thomson said: “We were overwhelmed by the response to the rainbow project and can’t thank these young people enough.

“Their colourful pieces represent unity and strength in these unsettling times, and we hope it went some way in showing thanks to the incredible frontline staff we have working in Grampian.”
