Family and friends of an Aberdeenshire woman who died from cancer earlier this year have raised £10,000 to mark what would have been her 50th birthday.
Wendy Gray, of Aberchirder, who lost her life in January this year, had spent time during treatment at the CLAN cancer support centre in Aberdeen and all the funds raised have be donated to the CLAN charity.
Sister-in law Maria Esslemont organised a disco, raffle and auction held at the Fife Lodge Hotel in Banff on what the was dubbed a day of celebration on August 25.
Earlier in the day, friend Brenda King organised a coffee morning in Aberchirder.
Both events saw hundreds of people come together to honour Mrs Gray and raise more than £10,000 for the north-east charity.
Local man James McKinnon boosted the already impressive total by raising more than £400 from a charity gold outing.
Now that the money has been passed to CLAN, Mrs Esslemont has paid tribute to all those who came out to support her friend.
She said: “Following her diagnosis, Wendy had spoken about her plans for her 50th birthday. She loved a party and I’m sure she would have enjoyed the fantastic night.
“At the disco, we had more than 300 people attend. It was truly fantastic and it was great to see so many people turn out to remember Wendy.
Mrs Esslemont added: “Wendy stayed at the CLAN Haven in Aberdeen twice while undergoing her treatment and really did think it was a wonderful facility for people affected by cancer.
“We’re delighted to be able to hand over this total and it’s great to support a charity that does so much good work across the north-east.”
CLAN’s services manager, Lucy Whiteman, said: “Maria has shown such incredible passion by involving her family, friends and community in paying tribute to Wendy Gray.
“The funds raised will support the continuation of CLAN cancer support services in the north-east of Scotland.”
CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort, support and information – free of charge, to anyone affected by cancer.
