Aberdeenshire coastguard teams were on alert on Thursday night helping evacuate residents after Storm Frank caused several rivers to burst their banks.
The Don and Ythan were both affected, causing serious problems in communities around Aberdeen including Inverurie and Ellon.
Coastguards, including those from Aberdeen, Cruden Bay and Montrose were out for much of the night, working with firefighters and other emergency services to evacuate residents.
In Ellon, the coastguard helped to evacuate several elderly and disabled residents from a badly-affected street. They also assisted in evacuating a block of flats in Inverurie.
Sue Todd, HM Coastguard Divisional Commander, said: “Coastguard Rescue Teams have been supporting the multi-agency effort over the past 24 hours across Aberdeenshire in what have been exceptionally challenging conditions.
“While the situation appears to be stabilising, a number of residents in the worst affected areas still require assistance and we will continue to respond to calls for assistance as they arise.”
