An Elgin woman tried to wrap a dog leash around her mother’s neck as she threatened to kill her in a frenzied attack.
Clara-Iona Fyvie lashed out at her mother after she referred to an argument from the previous day.
Elgin Sheriff Court heard yesterday that the 36-year-old had arrived at her mother Anne Fyvie’s home in Elgin as she was packing the car to go to Aberdeen.
Fiscal depute Kevin Corrins said: “As she (Anne Fyvie) turned around, she was confronted by the accused.
“She asked if Fyvie was in a better humour, referring to a recent argument they had.
“Fyvie, though, pushed her back into the house and grievously assaulted her mother.
“She slapped her mother’s face, pushed her over a chair in the kitchen and attempted putting a dog lead round her neck.
“The accused made numerous references that she wanted to murder her mother, and asked her if she wanted to ‘play a game with knives’.”
Fyvie yesterday admitted assaulting her mother by pushing her, slapping her on the face and attempting to put a dog lead round her neck on November 24 last year when she appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court.
Solicitor Robert Cruickshank said the attack was out of character for his client, and stemmed from an incident in her past.
He added: “There has now been a complete breakdown between my client and the victim here.”
Sheriff Chris Dickson agreed to defer sentence for six months, and ordered Fyvie to be of good behaviour.
