Two lifeboats have been launched this afternoon to assist a pleasure vessel in the Moray Firth after it was reported to be experiencing mechanical failure.
The incident, which was first reported to the coastguard at 3.03pm, has demanded the attention of both the Invergordon and Kessock lifeboats alongside a coastguard rescue team from Inverness.
A coastguard spokeswoman said: “Invergordon and Kessock lifeboats have been launched to assist a pleasure vessel on the Moray Firth that has reported it is suffering from mechanical failure.
“We received a call to the incident at 3.03pm.
“Inverness coast rescue team have been tasked to assist if required.
“The vessel is currently under tow and en route to Inverness Marina.
“Initially the vessel was taken under tow by Kessock lifeboat, however, due to the stature it was decided that Invergordon lifeboat would take over the tow.”
