Fencers from Germany will descend on Moray at the end of the month for the UK’s most northerly tournament.
The Highland Open is due to be held at Elgin High School for the seventh time on September 28 and 29.
More than a dozen locals are due to go toe-to-toe with some of the best duellists in the country with members of a Hamburg group also due to make the trip.
About 90 competitors from more than 20 different clubs will be taking part during the weekend, which will also include free sessions with plastic foils for local primary school children.
Competition secretary Robin Paterson, who is also a coach at Elgin Duellist Fencing Club, said: “This is the seventh year that the Highland Open Fencing Tournament has been held in Elgin and the competition provides a fantastic opportunity for our club members to fight some of the best fencers in Scotland and further afield.
“The closest fencing tournaments are usually held in the central belt of Scotland, so I am delighted that we have a record 13 Elgin Duellists taking the opportunity to compete.”
Entrants from the Elgin club range from 13-year-old Hebe Mucke, from Garmouth, to Mr Paterson, from Elgin, and Jon Goulding, from Forres, who are both 49.
The Saturday sessions will begin at 2pm and 3pm while the Sunday sessions will start at 1pm and 2pm.
