A man captured on video leaping from his lorry on a six-lane motorway and trying to force his way into a terrified family’s car.
The incident happened on Thursday evening during the rush-hour as the lorry was approaching the Forth Road Bridge – one of the most congested crossings in the UK.
The lorry, bearing the name Carr’s Flour Mills, appeared to cross into the lane occupied by a motorist with a camera on his dash board.
The driver gave the lorry driver a lengthy beep on his horn before driving off.
Seconds later, the lorry driver comes back into view, making an obscene gesture at the family and shouting.
The footage from website Edinburgh’s Worst Drivers then shows the driver leaping from his cab and dashing across the A90.
Off camera he can be heard pulling at the door handle as the frightened family – who had a two-year-old child on the back seat – cower inside.
After swearing at the family the tattooed lorry driver gives up and runs back to his cab.
The driver of the car, who does not want to be identified, said: “I think he backed off when he spotted my two year old daughter on the back seat.
“My daughter was distraught and traumatised.”
The video has lead to online calls for the as yet unnamed driver to be sacked.
One comment said: “Has to get the sack for this violent, intimidating behaviour. Then charge him.”
Another said: “I used to be a HGV driver if i done that i would be suspended pending a review then possibility the sack.”
Another added: “Yes, that HGV should not be driving, and hopefully if the company he works for are responsible, they will sack him.”
Carr’s Flour Mills have been contacted but have not yet commented on the incident.
