A Scottish couple reported missing following following a terror attack in Nice have been found safe and well.

Ross and Carole Annie Cowan were in the French Riviera on holiday and are believed to have been celebrating Bastille Day when the attack happened.

Mrs Cowan’s sister, Amy Stanton, from Helensburgh in Argyll and Bute, said her family were unable to contact her sister and husband.

But just hours after posting an emotional appear to find them, Amy updated her followers to let them know that both were safe.

In an earlier post to the Facebook page SOS Nice, she wrote: “Urgently looking for Carole Annie Cowan and Ross Cowan who were at Nice.

“They are a Scottish couple aged 27 and 30.

“They have been unavailable to reach since the attack. Carole has long blonde hair that you can not see in this picture.”

She added: “Asking everyone I know to pray or do anything you can to put all your positive thoughts and energy in to my sister and her husband being safe and well.

“If anyone knows anyone that is in Nice that could help could you please let me know.”

Foreign Minister Boris Johnston stated earlier on Friday it was believed one UK national had been injured in Nice.
