The 80s is making a modern revival in 2017.

Be prepared for bright colours, frills, volume and the distressed denim. But how can we introduce this into our wardrobe at this time of year?

With the Tran-seasonal weather in May, its difficult to determine if your day will start beautifully or develop into gales and hail; let alone whether you will need a jacket or how to style your new trending fashion piece.

One of the top fashion pieces this season is the Bardot top. Whether its linin, silk, wool or bandage they can be found all over the high-street in a variety of colours and materials; even better, they can be styled in a variety of ways to suit your mood. The versatility of this top can take you from festival chic all the way to sophisticated wedding guest – it’s all about the styling!

Local fashion stylist, Hayley Charles of HJC Styling, shows you how…

1) Casual

Going on holiday or attending some funky festivals? Give yourself an edgy make over by teaming the bardot top with a pair of denim dungarees.

New Look dungarees

These are a festival must have and can be found in a variety of styles with shorts, skirts or trousers. Why not take some inspiration from Moschino and pick up a pair of short dungarees and team them with a vintage belt, some cycle shorts and your gorgeous bardot top to bring back the 80s in style!

Feeling chilly? Instead, opt for a pair of 80s “mom” jeans or an over sized denim jacket to keep the cold out and make you look stylishly cool.

The “mom” jean is everywhere this season and a style like this will really help to give you some laid back luxe in your wardrobe.

2) Office

From River Island

One of the top office staples is the cigarette pant and even better; this season they are getting an 80s update! Team your bardot top with a pair of frill hem cigarette pants to keep on trend.

Not only are these smart, but they also add that bit of extra fun to your 9-5. If you are feeling daring enough, why not check out some of the bright matching suit combinations on the high-street. These are great for adding some colour to your wardrobe and the right shade will give your bardot top some structured shape and will instantly turn your casual top into a more formal affair.

3) Occasion

If you are attending a summer wedding and don’t see yourself as a dress girl, why not try a two piece! Team one of this seasons bardot tops with a pair of culottes for a sophisticated and feminine look. Ensure you tuck the top in to give you a fantastic waist line which will help to show of your shape. Include a gorgeous pair of court shoes in the mix to elongate your legs and you are set to go!
