Huntly’s John Henderson said his 6-6 draw in the Premier League against world champion Michael van Gerwen was the highlight of his career so far.
It looked ominous for the 45-year-old, who was stepping in for the injured Gary Henderson, when the number one player in the world raced into a 3-0 lead.
But Henderson, roared on by a sell-out crowd at the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre, won six of the following nine legs to earn a draw.
Henderson, who averaged 97.38 and threw six maximums, said: “I haven’t experienced anything like that and I’m not sure anything will top it.
“The crowd were phenomenal and even at 3-0 down I felt I was playing well.
“To come out with a 6-6 draw in the Premier League was hugely pleasing.”
Van Gerwen said: “It was not the result I wanted but full credit to John Henderson.
“I have lots of respect for him and how he handled a special moment.”
