Ross County attacker Michael Gardyne is feeling fitter than ever thanks to the club’s sports scientist Ross Hughes.

Gardyne has enjoyed a successful third spell with County since joining on loan from Dundee United last September, scoring four goals in 16 starts.

The 29 year-old returned to Victoria Park shortly before the arrival of Jim McIntyre and has felt a huge transformation in his physical condition.

Gardyne said: “The fitness levels of the players have been incredible.

“I feel a lot fitter in game now and am confident I can last 90 minutes easily and we are all showing that in the games.

“The manager wanted better fitness levels when he came in so he brought in a sports scientist. I think he’s the first one the club has had.

“The manager and assistant Billy Dodds were not too happy with the fitness levels when they arrived.

“But Ross has been doing loads of work in the gym with the players and we can see the results.”
