Aberdeen have refused Rangers permission to talk to manager Derek McInnes.
The Dons released a statement saying the club have been contacted by Rangers over the availability of McInnes.
The Pittodrie club released a short 27-word statement saying the approach had been declined.
It is believed the Dons are asking Rangers to pay £800,000 up front before they grant permission.
The statement read: “Aberdeen Football Club has announced this evening that Rangers have contacted the club asking for permission to speak to Derek McInnes and that permission has been refused.”
