Caley Thistle midfielder Sean Welsh is confident talk of Inverness’ financial struggles will not distract the players from their on-field duties.
Inverness held an extraordinary general meeting on Thursday, with the club eager to secure new investment to deal with cashflow problems.
The Highlanders are third in the Championship at present, with John Robertson’s side continuing to pursue their goal of promotion to the top flight after losing out in last season’s play-offs.
Welsh says he and his team-mates remain focused on the task at hand on the park, and he said: “As players we don’t really notice that. The chief executive had a chat with us on Thursday morning and just told us to concentrate on football.
“He’s working on that side of things, so we will just remain focused on the football and do what we are paid to do.
“He seems confident in his plans, so we trust him.
“We’ve just got to keep going with what we are meant to do, and that’s to win games.”
Inverness make the trip to face a high-flying Ayr United side, who moved five points clear of the Highlanders with last week’s 3-0 win over Arbroath at Gayfield.
Welsh’s former Partick Thistle team-mate Kris Doolan has been left on the bench in recent weeks, which the 29-year-old feels shows the strength available to Sandy Stewart, who is standing in as caretaker following the departure of Ian McCall.
Welsh added: “No matter where Kris plays – he will score goals.
“I’ve noticed he hasn’t been playing every week, so they are obviously happy with what they had before.
“We know they have got good players. It would have been hard to replace Lawrence Shankland, but it seems like they have done that no problem.
“They have kicked on again this season. Obviously their manager has left, but they seem to still be going the same way.
“We have got to be ready. It will be a hard challenge going down there, but we are confident on our day we can challenge.”
Inverness were defeated 3-1 by Thistle at Caledonian Stadium, however Welsh is confident of a strong response, adding: “There is no panic from us. We are not going to go through the season without slipping up and losing the odd game.
“It’s just about putting it right now. We are looking to bounce back as quickly as we can and get back to winning ways.
“The boys got beaten against Dundee United and then responded well. We have been going well. You are going to lose games at points in seasons, but it’s all about how you bounce back from that.
“We can’t wait for this game to put that right.”
