Auctions and raffles of a one-off blend of malts has already raised nearly £15,000 for NFU Scotland’s centenary trust.
The special whisky, which contains contributions from all 28 of Banffshire’s distilleries, was concocted by a group of Banffshire farmers to mark the union’s 100th birthday.
All funds raised are being put towards the union’s centenary trust, which aims to support agriculture-related projects throughout Scotland.
The blend contains contributions from the majority of the county’s distilleries including Glenfiddich, Cragganmore, Glenfarclas and Glenlivet.
NFU Scotland’s Banffshire branch secretary Elaine Robertson said 24 bottles, out of the 40 on offer, have now been sold raising a profit of £13,552.85 for the centenary trust.
She said a second round of sealed bids for the blend, held last week, secured a total of £5,279.71 from the ten bids.
Two bottles of the whisky are being raffled off by the branch with tickets available, at £5 each, from the NFU Scotland office in Keith.
“We have also opened the final round of sealed bids which will run until August 15, 2014. Bid sheets are available on the website or from the NFUS office in Keith,” said Ms Robertson.
