300 tickets for a Beauty and the Beast pantomime are being given away to community groups and charities in Aberdeen.

The panto, which opens for its first show on November 29 and has its final show on January 4 2015, is being staged by at His Majesty’s Royal Theatre.

Eager charities and groups can snap up the free tickets for the panto version of the tale as old as time by applying on the Aberdeen Performing Arts website by November 10.

Originally an 18th century french fairytale, the story of the Beauty and the Beast became famous worldwide thanks to Disney’s Oscar winning 1991 animated adaptation.

The lucky recipients of the 300 tickets will be treated to performances of Luke Newton as The Beast, Maggie Lynne as Belle and Elaine C Smith as Mrs Potty.

Aberdeen Performing Arts chief executive Jane Spiers said: “We are delighted to be able to offer tickets for Beauty and the Beast to community groups who might not otherwise get to see the panto.

“The HMT Panto is a great Christmas tradition for a lot of people, and for many children it is their first experience of live theatre. We would like to share that magical excitement with as many as we can.”

Application forms for the free tickets can be downloaded from www.aberdeenperformingarts.com and must be handed in before Monday November 10.
