Pet Portraits: Puppy Hugo takes the crown while we say goodbye to 17-year-old Rufus

Sitting still and looking like butter wouldn’t melt, this week’s top dog is Hugo the Cockerpoo.

Beating hopeful pets (and owners) from across the north and north-east, this leaf-loving one-year-old belongs to Jillian Fraser from Huntly.

And while we admire this puppy’s youthful innocence, we must respect those who came before and welcome Pet Portraits star Rufus for a final time.

Rufus has sadly passed away but he spent 17 wonderful years with his family.

Having appeared in our gallery more than once, this 17-and-a-half-year-old Jack Russell had a lust for life and he will be sorely missed by Emma, Anne, Stuart and Roy in Evanton.

He always brought a smile to our faces and we hope to share the same joy with this week’s gallery.

Pet Portraits of the week

We know it’s only November, but Lola has brought her festive fashion A game to Peterhead! Martyn and Lisa Eden say she makes everyone smile – she certainly worked on us!
Derek Ramsay claims that Jock and Frank can be a real handful for owners Angela and David Simpson… But come on! Just look at those faces! This handsome pair look like butter wouldn’t melt, and we’re sure they are local superstars in Kirriemuir.
Paddling on Loch Earn AND licking his own nose? Gizmo has all the skills! He lives in Montrose with Eileen Barnett.
Sometimes, names are just perfect. Star outshines even the autumn colours at Braes of Gight, Methlick, and must sparkle at Gwen and Alan Chalmers’ house near New Deer.
Is it possible that either Ian Rennie or Jacqueline Smith has just used the W word? Four-month-old Fergus and Mac certainly seem alert and ready for a walk – or anything else that’s in store in Huntly!
Ah, so that’s what they mean by birdbrains! Guthrie and Pippi fully focus on feathers at Jennifer Owens’ in Arbroath.
Hmm, let’s just say it’s clear who’s top cat in Southend, Kintyre… Pollyanna rules the roost from her perfect perch at Frances Hill’s.
Our first pet Highland Cow! Ah, no, it’s adorable Seòras dressed up and ready to explore the hills near Inverness with Morven Lurie from Glasgow.
Harvey the Westie looks surprised to be having his photo taken at Aberdeen beach. We don’t know why, Harvey – you’re very photogenic and clearly a natural model for Rona Bond!
And finally, our winner, Hugo!

If you would like to see your pet in the Your Life supplement, please send your high-resolution (good-quality) photographs to pets@dctmedia.co.uk

Please ensure you tell us your pet’s name, your own name and address, and where the picture was taken. There may be a short delay before it appears. Photos must be hi-res to print.

Each week, we will select a winning photograph and the lucky owner will receive a £50 Pets At Home gift card. At a time where costs are increasing, we’d like to make life a little easier for our readers. You can spend the voucher on essentials such as food and bedding, or just spoil your furry friend with a new toy or some tasty treats.
